On this day in 1911, it is announced in Paris that Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" has been stolen from the Louvre. The painting will turn up two years later, in Italy, but not before a graffiti artist named Marcel Duchamp gets his hands on it. (see "What's Wrong With This Picture?")
