On this day in 1973, White House legal counsel John Dean enters the Oval Office and takes a seat across from President Nixon, who summons Haldeman, then Ehrlichman. Nixon says something inaudible and then they all go out for lunch. A sampled segment of the tape of this meeting becomes the basis for "Nixon Happens," a techno-retro-hip-hop hit in the year 2043 by the group The Fudge Carrots.
