Lenin draws crowds to Winslow, Arizona, near Route 66.

On this day in 1924, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin dies at age 54. His body will lie in state for several days in Moscow, then go on a tour of Europe and the United States, eventually settling in Winslow, Arizona along Route 66 (see above), where it will entertain the motoring public for more than fifty years.
